Faster Than the Speed of Light: The Story of A Scientific Speculation
Review by Sue@spiritualbookclub.com on 2005-07-24
Sometimes a book comes along that makes you want to be smarter, leap tall buildings in a single bound, that sort of thing. This book was like that for me because it opened up a world I find fascinating from afar, the world of theoretical physics/cosmology. Once upon a time, talk about the origins of the universe were the words of theologians and philosophers. Now it's the talk of cosmologists and their amazing theories of how things got started and how all of this and what is to come came into play. In this book Magueijo challenges Einstein's theory of relativity by proposing a varying speed of light (VSL) theory. It's a tall order to challenge Einstein, obviously. Read this book and see what you think. It is a funny book, it's irreverent and has spicy language. It made me want to learn more about the universe(s), and that's a great gift from a book.
