Some books I cannot be objective about, and this is one. I love this collection of poetry by this American poet. Jane Kenyon lived a difficult life, her poems are mystical at times, earthly always, and ones like the title poem "Otherwise," or "Let Evening Come" are just delights to me. This book is an old friend on my shelf. If you do not like or "get" poetry, give this one a try. Her poetry is accessible and includes lovely imagery most folks would enjoy.
When Jane Kenyon died, her husband poet Donald Hall wrote the book "Without," which is a collection that will sort of rip your heart out, after having read this volume. But this one..."Otherwise" is a book I come back to again and again and again....
