The Trout Project
Posted by Susan Baller-Shepard on: 2015-03-01 @ 16:15 pm

As part of the continuing celebration of the IWU School of Music's sesquicentennial, three distinguished alumni composers will be on hand for performances of their music on the New Music Cafe concert.  They are Matthew Harder '96 of West Liberty University; Brian Baxter '07 of the Chicago Composers Orchestra and Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras; and Ben Hjertmann '07 of Appalachian State University.  The program includes songs, chamber music, and The Trout Project, three specially commissioned world premieres composed in response to Schubert's "Trout" quintet.  Our virtual guest composer, Franz S., will be represented by the variation movement of his quintet as well as the song that started it all, "Die Forelle."  The concert takes place in Westbrook Auditorium, of Presser Hall, 1210 N. Park St, Bloomington, IL USA., and is free and open to the public.
